IMO issued an infographic, providing a comprehensive illustration of the rules that entered into force on September 8, with the International Ballast Water Convention.

The BWM Convention, adopted in 2004 by IMO, requires ships to manage their ballast water to remove, render harmless, or avoid the uptake or discharge of aquatic organisms and pathogens within ballast water and sediments.
