Apostolos Belokas is a Maritime Safety, Quality & Environmental Expert, Consultant, Trainer and Project Manager with more than 20 year background in shipping as Technical, Marine, Safety & Training Superintendent and Consultant. He entered the industry back in 1992 as Engineering Superintendent with a leading ship manager operating a mixed fleet of bulk and oil/chemical tankers and later shifted to regulatory compliance and QHSE issues as superintendent and later as a Consultant and Trainer. Apostolos has successfully completed a wide range of QHSE projects including 250+ management system projects (ISM/ISO 9001-14001-18001/TMSA/MLC), 500 vessel and office audits to various standards and he has trained more than 5,000 people in a wide variety of QHSE subjects. He is holding Mechanical Engineering Bachelor and Master’s specialising in Energy & Environment and Master’s Degrees in Maritime Business and Business Administration (MBA), all of them awarded with distinction. Apostolos is the Managing Director of SQE MARINE & SQE ACADEMY and he is also the Founder and Managing Editor of SAFETY4SEA and GREEN4SEA.

Stamatis Fradelos, ABS Principal Engineer
Stamatis Fradelos is Principal Engineer in the Operational Environmental Performance (OEP) department of American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). The OEP department provides technical support on energy efficiency, vessel performance and environmental matters. Prior to joining ABS, Stamatis worked as a marine field surveyor and spent six years at Lloyd’s Register as a Plan Approval Surveyor. Stamatis has a M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (NTUA), a M.Sc. in Marine Technology and Science (NTUA) and a M.Sc. in Engineering – Economic Systems (NTUA, UoA, UoP).
Dr William H.Moore, Senior Vice President of Loss Prevention, The American P&I Club
Dr. Moore is the Senior Vice President for Loss Prevention at the Shipowners Claims Bureau, Inc., managers of the American Club. In that capacity, he brings 21 years of experience to the development and implementation of the Club’s loss prevention initiatives to assist shipowners in the reduction of maritime risks and incidents. He formerly worked at ABS in New York and Gard Services in Norway. He acquired his doctorate degree at the University of California at Berkeley in Naval Architecture and is also a graduate of Ocean Systems Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Moore is also formerly the Chairman of the IMO’s Joint Maritime Safety Committee & Marine Environmental Protection Committee’s working group on the Human Element.
Benoit Loicq, Maritime Safety and Environment Director, ECSA
Benoit currently acts as Director Maritime Safety and Environment at the European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA). In the past, he has worked for the Belgian Federal government as counter-pollution officer in the field of deliberate and accidental marine pollution and as operator on board the Belgian pollution control remote sensing aircraft (aerial surveillance above North Sea). He has also experience at sea as Deck Officer onboard gas tankers
Sotiris Raptis, Policy Officer, Transport & Environment
Sotiris joined T&E in July 2014 after 6 years in the European Parliament. He worked as a Policy Advisor on Transport, Climate Change and Environment for MEP Kriton Arsenis, some of his key files being CO2 emissions of the shipping sector, biofuels and indirect land-use change, as well as the revision of Water Framework directive and Environmental Impact Assessment directive. A qualified lawyer, Sotiris hails from northern Greece and speaks Greek and English. He studied at the University of Thessaloniki School of Law, the University of Athens School of Law as well as at the King’s College London Centre of European Law. Sotiris was awarded European Citizens’ Prize 2008 of the European Parliament as member of “G700” blog for promoting intergenerational justice. He is part of the aviation and shipping team at T&E and is responsible for the cleaner shipping campaign. He loves good food and reading and his passions include politics and hiking.
Klaus Grensemann, Chairman, QACE
Since November 2010 Klaus Grensemann is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Entity for the Quality Assessment and Certification of Organisations recognised by the European Union CIC (QACE). Before he joined QACE he served as the Head of the Maritime safety Division in the German Ministry for Transport. In that capacity he was head of the German delegation to IMO Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) and a number of IMO Sub-Committees. He has been a Member State Representative of the Administrative Board of EMSA, Board member of the ship building research centre HSVA, member of the scientific advisory council of the German Institute of Navigation and member of the IACS Independent Appeals Board.
Panayiotis Mitrou, Marine Research, Development & Innovation Manager, Lloyd’s Register
Panayiotis Mitrou is a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer NTUA, holding an MBA in Shipping from ALBA Business School. During his seven year service with Lloyd’s Register Piraeus Design Support Office, he has been dealing with series of statutory and other reviews. He has supported and lead the implementation of several pieces of new legislation ranging from Ballast Water management to the latest Energy management related requirements. He has also been deeply involved in MARPOL and the Chemical codes matters. He is currently employed as a member of Lloyd’s Register Piraeus Business Team in an account management and technical support role focusing among other on forthcoming legislation as well as energy management solutions. He has represented Hellenic Lloyd’s and Lloyd’s Register in a number of international forums, research and other projects developed within the TEN-T and other EU frameworks. He is currently involved in Poseidon Med as the project Manager for LR.

Jarle Blomhoff holds a Master of Science in Engineering with specialization in Navigation, Guidance and Control of Ships from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Jarle has 7 years experience from DNV and FutureShip (Germanischer Lloyd). He is currently supporting shipping companies on improving their operations with an efficient organizational setup, profitable technical measures as well as efficient design of assets. With long experience within project management, risk management, technical analysis as well as organisational and process review, he has worked together with clients from industries such as shipping, telecommunication, finance, IT and transportation.

Konstantinos Kanellakis is an electrical and computer engineer (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), with postgraduate studies in business administration (MBA, Athens University of Economics and Business). Albert Leyson, Marketing Manager, Drew Marine, USA
Albert Leyson has been the Marketing Manager for the Fuel and Energy Management product line at Drew Marine USA since 2006. Albert manages the most extensive fuel additive line available to the shipping industry. The fuel additives chemically augment and provide viable solutions for today’s problematic fuels. He also manages a wide array of fuel equipment that includes fuel samplers, fuel homogenizers, engine and emissions analyzers, onboard fuel and lube oil test kits and analytical services that Drew Marine offers. Prior to joining Drew Marine, Albert was a technical advisor and bunker surveyor controller at VPS, formerly known as DNV Petroleum Services and spent two years with Det Norsk Veritas AS as a systems analyst and data modeler for ISO 10303-439 Industrial automation systems and integration – Product data representation and exchange – Part 439: AP239 product life cycle support. Albert has an BSci in Marine Engineering from U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and a MSci in Information Systems Management from Stevens Institute of Technology. Memberships include founding member of CIMAC US NMA and partner of Green Marine (North America)
Gerald Rolfe, Manager – Marine Service Development, SKF Industrial Market, Marine
Gerald Rolfe has worked for SKF for 31 years, in a career including roles in technical management, business development, and delivery of Specialist Services. Gerald was Engineering Manager in SKF UK for over 10 years, providing design and engineering advice to SKF customers across all industries, and was then General Manager for SKF Reliability Systems for 12 years, where his team built up a strong reputation with Marine Fleet Operators. Gerald joined the SKF Global Marine Segment in 2010 and is today responsible for SKF Asset Management Services, including the Marine CBM Service Strategy, offering Specialist CM Product and Service solutions to Fleet Owners, Operators and Managers worldwide. SKF is today recognised as the world’s largest supplier of CM technology, supported by a global team of around 1500 engineers and staff worldwide. Edwin Schuirink, Technical Product Manager, VAF instruments
Edwin Schuirink obtained his bachelor degree in mechanical engineering in 1990 and started his professional career in the propeller and engine manufacturing business. He obtained a lot of experience in this segment of the maritime industry as a project engineer, sales engineer and sales manager. In 2010 he joined VAF Instruments BV (Dordrecht, the Netherlands) as a Technical Product Manager, representing the T- and TT-Sense optical torque & thrust measuring systems and fuel consumption measurement in general.
At VAF Instruments he joined the technical and R&D department in developing the PEM4 Efficiency Monitoring system, the user interface between a wide range of VAF sensors and the crew on board. Moreover he worked on a variety of efficiency monitoring projects worldwide and gained extensive practical experience in fuel consumption, engine efficiency and vessel performance monitoring.
Yoshihisa Okada, Deputy General Manager – Propeller Design Dept., Nakashima Propeller Co Ltd
Yoshihisa Okada has Bachelor at Hiroshima Institute of Technology. He joined Nakashima Propeller since 1982. Since then, he has been in charge of propeller design for various types of commercial vessels for 20 years. He is deputy general manager at propeller design department.
SESSION 3: Fuel Options
John Kokarakis, VP Technology & Business Development, Hellenic Black Sea Region & Middle East, Bureau Veritas
John Emmanuel Kokarakis, a 1979 graduate of National Technical University of Athens, holds PhD (1986) and Master’s degrees in Naval Architecture (1983) and Master’s in Mechanical Engineering (1984) from the University of Michigan. He worked for over ten years as a consultant undertaking technical problems worldwide. His specialization was in the area of technical investigation and analysis of marine accidents. In that capacity he participated in the technical investigation of the Exxon Valdez grounding, capsize of drillship Seacrest, Piper Alpha fire and explosion, Aleutian Enterprise foundering in Alaska as well as many other accidents of less notoriety. The last fourteen years he works in Greece, in the area of classification. He has served at American Bureau of Shipping and Germanischer Lloyd. He worked in plan approval, rule development and implementation of environmental regulations. He is currently Vice President of Technology and Business Development of Marine Hellenic, Black Sea & Middle East Zone at Bureau Veritas. In his duties Dr. Kokarakis is responsible for the smooth technical operation in the Zone as well as in the harmonic cooperation with the BV offices worldwide to the benefit of the BV clients.
Joris van Kreij, Global Sales Manager – LNG Ship Fueling Solutions, Chart Industries
Joris van Kreij (1980) has been active in the maritime industry for over 15 years. He started his professional career at sea, working as engineer and navigation officer on board of both cargo- and cruiseships. He holds a Bachelor degree in Maritime Operations and a Master degree in Business Administration. Before joining Chart , Joris has been active in the propulsion and engine manufacturing industry. Maria Kyratsoudi, FOBAS Senior Specialist GEMA, Hellenic Lloyd’s SA
Maria Kyratsoudi joined Lloyd’s Register in 2009 and her current role is FOBAS Senior Specialist, Team Leader for Greece, East Mediterranean and Adriatic (GEMA). Maria has the overview of the FOBAS service in GEMA region and provides specialist technical advice on fuel quality and on-board fuel management. Current duties include also providing decision making support to customers with respect to the air emissions compliance solutions (alternative fuels, abatement technology etc) Prior to joining Lloyd’s Register, Maria worked as a plan approval engineer at Germanischer Lloyd. Maria Kyratsoudi holds an MSc in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens.
Kai Låtun, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Yara Marine Technologies AS
Kai has gained an education from Norwegian Technical University (NTNU) and London Business School. He has 30 years’ experience in shipping-, offshore- and telecom industries, whereof last 7 years he is expert in marine emissions and air abatement challenges, specifically working with NOx and SOx abatement equipment.
Gilberto Rubini, Global Sales Manager – Business Development, Ecospray Technologies
Gilberto graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 1982 at Politecnico of Milan.
He has more than 30 years of professional experience in international/multinational companies in the environmental business, specifically in air treatment for many industrial sectors.
He gained a strong experience in international sales as from 2000 he followed many foreign markets (Swiss, France, German, Italian); he held growing roles by some international key-players in air treatment and pollution business.
Since 2014, he joined Ecospray Technologies an Italian company specialized in in the research, design and commercial development of innovative solutions for air/gas treatment with a specific expertise of Exhaust Gas Cleaning systems for the marine industry. Gilberto covers the position of Global Sales Manager and Business Development
Marco Dierico, Marine Business Development Manager, Europe, DuPont/BELCO
Marco is the business development manager Europe for DuPont Marine business, mainly involved in promoting the scrubbers business. He joined DuPont in September 2014 after a seven year experience in the most relevant Italian shipbuilding group: Fincantieri S.p.a. He spent 6 years in the basic design department for cruise and ferries taking care of several aspects of a ship design, from stability calculation, weight evaluation to the technical specifications. He has been in charge for two special projects: a “waste to energy platform” and a “semi-submersible barge”, delivered in Jan.14. Most recently he spent a year in the engineering department for the machinery system and he was in charge of a project for the integration of the BAT for DeSox and DeNox on board of cruise ships. He holds a marine engineering degree from the University of Trieste and a maritime science diploma. Passionate about new technologies applied to the marine industry.
SESSION 4: Ballast Water Management
Josheph J. Angelo, Deputy Managing Director, INTERTANKO
Joe Angelo is the Deputy Managing Director for the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (INTERTANKO). He joined INTERTANKO in January 2005 when he became the Director of Regulatory Affairs and the Americas located in their Arlington, Virginia regional office.
Mr. Angelo is a 1971 graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. He began his career with the U.S. Coast Guard in 1977 and was assigned to various positions of greater responsibility until 1992, when he became a member of the Senior Executive Service (SES). In 1995 he became the first Coast Guard Director of Standards for Marine Safety, Security and Environmental Protection, a position he held until his retirement from the U.S. government in January 2005.
Since 1980, Mr. Angelo has been a key negotiator and the head of numerous delegations for the U.S. to major maritime safety and environmental protection committee meetings and conferences at the International Maritime Organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations concerned with international maritime affairs.
Mr. Angelo has received two Presidential Distinguished Executive Service Rank Awards, one from President Clinton in 1999 and the other from President Bush in 2004. In addition, he was the recipient of the 2003 Chamber of Shipping of America’s RADM Halert C. Shepheard Award for Extraordinary Contributions to Merchant Marine Safety.
Gary Croot, President IMESA & Ret. USCG Chief, Environmental Standards Division
As founder and President of IMESA, Mr. Croot has over 25 years of experience in the fields of marine safety, environmental protection, and international regulatory compliance and enforcement. He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in 2011 as Chief of the Environmental Standards Division where he developed a wide variety of environmental regulations including ballast water management, control of marine debris, and dry cargo residue. He also administered the Coast Guard’s innovative Shipboard Technology Evaluation Program (STEP) which has facilitated the development and installation of effective ballast water treatment technologies. Gary led and participated in numerous Congressional briefings focusing on the intricacies of ballast water regulation and legislation and served on joint panels with representatives of the EPA’s Office of Water.
Cedric Chatteleyn, Claims Director, Thomas Miller Hellas
Cedric obtained a Masters in International Private Law and an LLM in Maritime Law which culminated with a dissertation concerning Incoterms and charter parties. He worked for a short period for a Marine Insurance Broker placing cover in the Lloyds Market. He joined the London office of UK P&I Club in 1996 where he dealt with mainly French, Spanish and Italian Members. After 4 years in London, he relocated in 2000 to join Thomas Miller Hellas the Greek office of the UK P&I Club. Cedric advises ship owners and charterers and handles a wide range of both P&I and FD&D claims and disputes. This includes on the P&I side, B/L issues, cargo claims, dock and collision damages together with unrecoverable GA claims and salvage cases. Over the years, Cedric has been involved in numerous negotiations which included trips in difficult jurisdictions to assist in the resolution of disputes. On the FD&D side, Cedric deals with time or voyage charter party disputes, MOA and has been involved in Seminars organised by the Defence Club for its Members
Leif Eric Caspersen, International Sales Director, ERMA First
Leif Erik Caspersen is the International Sales Director of ERMA FIRST. He is specialized in Business to Business marketing and industrial sales. He has worked for several years in marketing and selling products to the offshore and land based industry. During the past 20 years he has been actively involved in the marine pints and coating business . He acted as the Vice President and Chairman of Jak. J. Alveberg AS, one of the oldest paint companies in Norway, promoting specialized coatings designed for refurbishing of ballast tanks on older ships, among many other applications . As the Managing Director in Orca Maritime AS, a company specialized in innovative and long lasting solutions for corrosion protection , he succeed in introducing products for offshore installations, hull and superstructures on ships. Since 2006 , he has been actively involved in the ballast water treatment industry promoting systems all over the world. Since 2014 , he joined the ERMA FIRST team, leading the international sales division.
Stelios Kyriacou, BSc (Hons), MSc, PhD, Technical Director – Wärtsilä Ballast Water Management Systems
Dr Stelios Kyriacou is a senior technical executive with a career spanning some 30 years and a focus on design, applied research and development. Since 2009, he has led the Wärtsilä, formerly Hamworthy, activities on ballast water treatment technology development. He has managed the design, research and development of the Wärtsilä AQUARIUS® BWMS range and delivery of market ready products. This is the most comprehensive range of BWMS available in the market and includes both a filter UV and a filter EC (electro-chlorination) BWMS that are available for both safe and hazardous area installations. Both the Wärtsilä BWMS technical offerings have been IMO Type Approved through the Flag Administration of the Netherlands. The filter UV system was granted AMS acceptance in 2013 by the USCG including fresh water operation whilst the filter EC systems were granted an AMS acceptance in 2014. Dr Kyriacou is a member of the IMO MEPC Ballast Water Working Group and has been an invited speaker and panellist on a number of ballast water technology events in Europe, USA and Asia. He is a visiting professor and chairman of the industry advisory board at Cranfield University, UK and a member of a number of National (UK) and European committees dealing with maritime strategy, regulations, technology research, development and innovation.
Juha Kiukas, Sales Director, Trojan Marinex
Juha Kiukas is a Marine Naval Architect with over 20 years of experience in various marine markets. He joined Trojan Marinex in 2014 as Sales Director – a role in which he leads the tactical implementation of sales and market integration strategies. Trojan Marinex is part of the Trojan Technologies group of businesses. Direct access to nearly 40 years of industry-defining water treatment expertise has enabled them to create a suite of ballast water treatment systems unlike any other. POSEIDON MED LNG Bunkering
POSEIDON MED is coordinated by QENERGY Europe and is the first European cross-border project which aims to introduce LNG as the main fuel for the shipping industry and the development of an adequate network infrastructure supplying LNG and Natural Gas. The project aims to design an integrated chain of ports for using LNG as fuel for ships, including the development of a network for the transmission and distribution of LNG, and the creation of a well-organized and sustainable market. 2015 GREEN4SEA Athens Forum successfully concluded on 22nd April
The 2015 GREEN4SEA Forum, a PRO BONO event, successfully concluded on Wednesday 22nd of April 2015 in Eugenides Foundation Athens attracting 950 delegates from 25 countries representing a total of 450 organizations.
A unique panel of 25 global experts debated on sustainability and energy efficiency in the industry, fuel options for compliance with new Regulations and updates on Ballast Water Management. Positive feedback on the presentations together with roundtable discussions proved the programme and speakers gave a great insight into green shipping issues.
The event organized by SQE4SEA and sponsored by Bureau Veritas, ERMA FIRST ESK Engineering, Lloyd’s Register, Schneider Electric and SKAI in the media for the event coverage. During his welcome address Apostolos Belokas, Founder and Managing Editor of GREEN4SEA, as the Forum Chairman, outlined the objectives of this PRO BONO event, including fostering Sustainability and promoting Best Practices for a greener shipping industry.
Presentations were given in four sessions as follows:
Session 1 : Sustainable Shipping
- Stamatis Fradelos, ABS, presented an update on the most important international and regional regulatory developments in the environmental arena highlighting also the most interesting submissions under discussion at the forthcoming MEPC 68.
- William H. Moore, American P&I Club, presented Club’s guide ‘Welcome to the USA’ and explained how to comply with key regulations of which shipowners should be aware when trading to and from the US.
- Benoit Loicq, ECSA, presented EU/IMO approach on the safe and environmentally sound ship recycling. He concluded that the European Commission must ensure that the implementation of the EU Regulation provides any recycling yards with incentives for sustainable practices.
- Sotiris Raptis, Transport & Environment analysed how the new EU Regulation on MRV will impact new rules on cargo owners’ decisions noting that according to the Third IMO GHG Study the projected increase in transport demand will offset any efficiency gains.
- Klaus Grensemann, QACE, gave his feedback on the role of QACE towards sustainable shipping.
- Panayiotis Mitrou, Hellenic Lloyd’s SA, focused on the Poseidon Med project and referred to the opportunities arising from the adoption of LNG as a marine fuel. The aim of the project is to revive the shipping sector through the planning and executing of a smooth transition for East Mediterranean shipping to a new era, the Gas era
Session 2 : Energy Efficiency
- Jarle Coll Blomhoff, DNV GL Maritime, explained that there are two main drivers for improving tanker energy efficiency; changing vessel design and reducing losses by improving operation. He also provided actual data of the energy efficiency project with Euronav.
- Konstantinos Kanellakis, Schneider Electric, gave a presentation on the energy efficiency potential of using variable speed drives to run fans and pumps. He analysed the issues that may arise by the use of drives on ships, like harmonics, electromagnetic interference (EMC) and voltage peaks.
- Albert Leyson, Drew Marine, covered the next generation fuel management solutions on a risk-based approach by analysing fuel quality, fuel specifications, component maintenance and system upset.
- Gerald Rolfe, SKF Marine, focused on the Condition Based Maintenance which optimizes asset efficiency and provides to ship operators clearly improved equipment reliability and improved health and safety.
- Edwin Schuirink, VAF Instruments, covered issues relevant to monitoring hull and propeller efficiency; an important issue as the world fleet is sailing with approx.30% added resistance due to fouling.
- Yoshihisa Okada, Nakashima Propeller, gave a presentation on the propeller and new energy saving devices for EEDI by illustrating the example of a new propeller included FRP which has higher strength than Nickel Aluminuim Bronze.
Session 3 : Fuel Options
- John Kokarakis, Bureau Veritas, presented the available future fuel options. He concluded that LNG could be a major fuel in the shipping sector from 2020 up to 2070 and after 2070 fuels such as hydrogen, synthetic fuels and biofuels may be chosen depending on the characteristics of the ship
- Joris van Kreij, Chart Industries, gave an update on the LNG ship fuel systems and focused on the importance of high grade insulation of LNG tanks. He recommended to select a supplier with extensive experience in building vacuum insulated tanks.
- Maria Kyratsoudi, Hellenic Lloyd’s, presented the challenge up to 2020 for SOx compliance. She analysed how exhaust gas cleaning may be a mature industrial technology, however the decision of using scrubbers is not straightforward. She concluded that operators need to consider their own financial modelling and asset statues to develop tailored solutions.
- Kai Låtun, Yara Marine Technologies AS, analysed under which conditions the profitability of a scrubber investment should be evaluated. He gave some concrete examples of scrubber installations onboard vessels, illustrated how to calculate payback time for a scrubber investment and also reviewed the costs of alternative consumables during installation.
- Gilberto Rubini, ECOSPRAY Technology, gave a presentation on how to comply with emissions limits and meet shipowners’ operational needs. He explained that Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems ensure no polluting discharges into the sea as well as no particulate and PAH in the combustion fumes.
- Marco Dierico, DuPont/BELCO, covered the benefits, the technology and market trends of scrubber systems. Benefits relate to the long term savings on fuel. Trends are showing a substantial price reduction for scrubbers. Also passenger ships & Ro-RO ferries tend to open and hybrid loop systems.
Session 4 : Ballast Water Management
- Joseph Angelo, INTERTANKO, provided a presentation on the Shipowners’ concerns with Ballast Water Management related to both the IMO BWM Convention and the USCG BWM Regulations. He informed the forum about the initiatives INTERTANKO and the shipping industry have taken to address these concerns at IMO and the successful outcome of these initiatives.
- Gary Croot, IMESA, analysed the regulatory and legislative status in the US of BWM and how affect shipowners. He also advised the audience where to focus for type approval process and covered VGP/ USCG similarities and differences.
- Cedric Chatteleyn, Thomas Miller Hellas, gave his feedback of the BWM Convention impact on business, operational and insurance costs. He concluded that the Convention once enters into force, will undoubtedly lead ton increase both operational and insurance costs.
- Leif Eric Caspersen, ERMA First, analysed the ten myths about the Ballast Water Treatment. He highlighted that it is never late to do anything about the environment with all the ballast water being carried around the world.
- Stelios Kyriakou, Wartsila, covered the ballast water issues in order to act as a reminder of the reasons for the Ballast Water Convention. The international and local regulations were examined from the standpoint of performance and equipment type approval processes.
- Juha Kiukas, Trojan Marinex, gave feedback on the USCG type approval. He concluded that USCG AMS approval is only an interim solution and paths to type approval vary. Many ship owners question UV based solutions due to so called “live versus dead” issue”. USCG has however the ability to accept alternative test methods like the MPN, widely used for UV based systems.
All sessions ended with a round table discussion and exchange with the audience.
