Technical Director, Atlantic Bulk Carriers Management Ltd ============================================ Panos Zachariadis is Technical Director of Atlantic Bulk Carriers Management Ltd since 1997. Prior to that he was Marine Superintendent in New York. His shipping experience includes sea service in bulk carriers and oil tankers, specifications and supervision of repairs and new buildings, ship operations and chartering. He has been attending IMO since 2004 as member of the Greek delegation, being involved with IMO's Goal Based Standards from beginning to end. He was also extensively involved in the Greek FSA study which reversed the IMO decision to make double hull bulk carriers mandatory and was instrumental in developing IMO's coating standard (PSPC) for ships' ballast tanks. His current focus is the environmental regulations being formed at IMO (Market Based Instruments and EEDI). He has written numerous technical guides and papers and is a frequent article contributor to the magazine Naftika Chronika. Panos Zachariadis holds a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University and a MSE degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan. Memberships include the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, SNAME, BIMCO Marine Committee, several Technical Committees (ABS, LR, Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, Union of Greek Shipowners), BoD and founding member of Marine Technical Managers Association (MARTECMA) of Greece.
